Orienteering
Orienteering is a fun and exciting way to discover all that Ferry Meadows has to offer. Using a special map and, if you like, a compass, you’ll navigate your way around the Park to find marked points as quickly as you can. Don’t worry if you’re not super speedy, you can walk, jog or run, and it doesn’t matter how young, old or fit you are! The real challenge is in planning your route, which makes it a hit with all ages.
We have three courses to suit different levels of experience. Leaflets are available for free at the Ferry Meadows Visitor Centre or Nene Outdoors Watersports & Activity Centre, or you can download a copy using the links below.

How to take part
Inside each leaflet, you’ll find:
- An orienteering map with a number of control points.
- Each point is marked by a short wooden post with a red and white symbol.
- A table on the back explains where you can find each post.
Your task is simple: explore the Park, find the posts and write the corresponding letter in the box on your leaflet. A compass isn’t essential, but it can help you navigate more easily.
A few friendly tips
- All information in the leaflets is accurate at the time of printing, but Ferry Meadows is a living, natural park, so things can change.
- Please stay alert and take care, as some hazards may not be shown on the map.
- If you have any questions or run into any issues while orienteering, we’re here to help, just contact us on 01733 234193.
- If you’d like to use the course for a group or special event, please email us at visitor.services@neneparktrust.org.uk.
