Sailing Courses

Looking to try something new on the water? Nene Outdoors Watersports & Activity Centre offers a range of accredited sailing courses for both adults and children, helping you build skills, gain qualifications and enjoy the freedom of the water.

RYA Sailing Courses (Youth 8–15 | Adults 16+)

Learning to sail is exciting and rewarding. Our Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Sailing Scheme runs throughout the year, offering 2-day courses in a safe and supportive environment. Beginner courses cover the essentials of dinghy sailing, giving you the confidence to enjoy sailing independently.

  • Beginners: Start with level 1 before progressing to level 2.
  • Progression: After level 2, you can hire one of our dinghies and sail at your leisure.
  • Advanced training: For those ready to take their skills further, we offer higher levels of the RYA scheme. Speak to our team for guidance.
  • Extra options: Hire equipment or join the Lakeside Sailing Club to continue your sailing journey.

RYA Powerboat Courses

Our RYA Level 2 Powerboat Course teaches you to drive and manoeuvre a powered craft safely and confidently. This 2-day course gives you the skills to operate a powerboat in a controlled and enjoyable way.

RYA Start Windsurfing Course

Learn to windsurf on our 2-day course in safe, sheltered waters. You’ll master the basics, including preparation, sailing in all directions, manoeuvring the board and getting on and off the water. All while having fun!

Private Tuition

Want to focus on a specific skill or try something new? Our pre-bookable private sessions give you a dedicated instructor to tailor the lesson to your needs. Sessions are available from £67 per hour for up to two people. Email us at nene.outdoors@neneparktrust.org.uk to find out more.

Accessible Facilities

Nene Outdoors is accessible to everyone. Our specialist changing rooms and hoist facilities, along with adaptable activities, ensure all visitors can enjoy the experience comfortably.
